Let’s face it. Soda is nothing but sugar in a can.
Need proof?
An average bottle of regular soda can clock in more than 16 teaspoons of sugar!
And guzzling that much sugar on a consistent basis can put you on the fast track for weight gain, type 2 diabetes, and even heart disease.
But a new study has uncovered ANOTHER health hazard to drinking sugar-laden soda that can send your body into a tailspin.
And even if you find yourself drawn to drinking soda, I have a simple, healthy swap you can make TODAY that will give you all the ‘fizz,’ without the dangerous side effects.
Sugary Soda Linked to Fatty Liver Disease
According to a new study by researchers with the Endocrine Society, consuming food or drinks loaded with high fructose corn syrup could lead to the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
Foods and beverages high in fructose (like soda) can contribute to metabolic disorders like obesity and diabetes –two of the main causes of NAFLD.
And when NAFLD goes unchecked, it can lead to advanced liver scarring (cirrhosis) and liver failure!
Fortunately, eliminating the risk of NAFLD is simple… just cut out processed sugar!
But unfortunately, most folks believe they can just make the switch to DIET SODA and be perfectly fine.
And thanks to some clever advertising, you’ve probably been DOOPED into thinking that these zero-calorie, zero-sugar drinks are actually good for you.
Heck, maybe you’ve even found yourself stocking your fridge with these ‘healthy’ drinks this summer.
But, here’s the truth about diet soda: The artificial sweeteners used to give diet soda that soda ‘taste’ have all been linked to an increased risk of stroke, dementia, type 2 diabetes, and obesity.
But there is good news… especially if you love soda of any variety…
It’s entirely possible to kick this unhealthy vice to the curb WITHOUT sacrificing taste.
One of my favorite sweet drinks is sparkling water with fresh-squeezed lemon and lime. You’ll still get that same fizz soda provides, without the unhealthy chemicals or sugar.
Trust me, your taste buds (and your gut) will love it!
