You’ve been diagnosed with cancer. You want to survive. And you’re ready to fight.
Your doctor will probably recommend chemotherapy. But that may kill you. Chemo is poisonous. It destroys good cells along with the bad. It zaps your energy… causes you to lose your hair… and it makes you susceptible to bleeding and infections.
Recent studies reveal that it does more harm than good. You could suffer from long-term side effects for decades. That’s if you even survive the treatments.
Chemo attacks cells that divide quickly. That includes those in your bone marrow, the lining of your mouth and intestines, and hair follicles. It doesn’t discriminate.
One British study was conducted by the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD). It found that 40 percent of patients with late-stage cancer who received chemo suffered potentially fatal effects. The treatments were inappropriate in nearly a fifth of the cases.
Chemo offers false hope. Simultaneously, it creates more problems. But doctors and pharmaceutical companies continue to push it.
Why? Cancer treatments are extremely profitable. And the cost of chemo – now upward of $10,000 – continues to skyrocket.
Profits are startling. And it’s attracting big-name drug companies like Pfizer. They’ve turned away from cardiovascular drugs. Their sights are set on cancer.
According to a New York Times article:
“Patients are often desperate and insurers risk outrage by denying payments for a cancer drug, even if the odds say it will have little benefit. That has allowed pharmaceutical companies to charge thousands of dollars a month for cancer medicines. Such prices can make drugs for even rare cancers, or drugs that do not work very well, into big moneymakers.”
How did things get this way? And what can be done about it? NHD took a look at what’s going on behind the scenes to get a clear picture.
Inside the War on Cancer
President Richard Nixon signed the National Cancer Act in 1971. It launched the war on cancer in the US. It was supposed to eliminate cancer as a major cause of death.
That was 40 years ago. Billions have been spent since. But cancer cases continue to rise.
There are about 600,000 new patients each year… over 1,500 a day.
Millions have died along the way. You may have a personal story. Or you’ve heard the stories. The fates of Patrick Swayze, Farrah Fawcett, Peter Jennings, and Tony Snow are well known.
What do these celebrities have in common? They all had cancer. All received chemotherapy. And soon… they all died. It’s no coincidence. Chemo kills.
See for yourself…

Many scientists only focus on diagnosis and treatment. That makes us more dependent on deadly drugs.
Daniel Sargent is a professor of biostatistics. He works at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
In 2008, he led a study. It looked at data from 1,027 patients in the US, Canada, France, and Italy. He presented the results to the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
The study found that “chemotherapy actually lowered survival to 75 percent” in colon cancer patients.
Sargent concluded: “So, we have a group of patients who can be spared the toxicity, the expense, and the inconvenience of treatment and have a very good outcome even without any treatment.”
In the NCEPOD study cited above, 600 patients died within 30 days of receiving treatment. Chemo accelerated 27 percent of the deaths.
Mark Lansdown is a surgical oncologist at Leeds General Infirmary. He co-authored the report.
“The majority of patients in this study were receiving palliative treatment where the aim is to alleviate symptoms of cancer with the minimum of side effects,” he said. “Yet, 43 percent of all patients in the study suffered significant treatment-related toxicity.”
Diana Mort also co-authored the report. She works at Velindre NHS Trust. She noted: “Patients must be made aware of the risks and side effects of chemotherapy as well as the potential benefits. They should be given time to reflect on their decision and must always be free to change their minds.”
Placing Blame
In the US, critics blame the American Cancer Society (ACS). Simply because they don’t stand up to Big Pharma.
One such critic is Dr. Samuel Epstein. He’s professor emeritus of Environmental and Occupational Medicine at the University of Illinois School of Public Health. He’s also former head of a Congressional cancer committee.
Epstein says the ACS is too cozy with Big Pharma. And the organization doesn’t deny it.
“The American Cancer Society views relationships with corporations as a source of revenue for cancer prevention,” said Dr. Michael Thun, VP of Epidemiology and Surveillance Research at the ACS. “That can be construed as an inherent conflict of interest, or can be construed as a pragmatic way to get funding to support cancer control.”
And there’s more blame to go around. The whole situation has instilled fear in doctors. If they ignore the common practice of chemo, they could get sued. So they’re forced to take the safe route. Either that or they don’t know any better.
To make matters worse, experts who speak up are being ignored.
One is German epidemiologist Dr. Ulrich Abel. He’s from the Tumor Clinic at the University of Heidelberg.
He collected studies from 350 medical centers. And he looked at thousands of scientific articles. He found chemotherapy to be a “scientific wasteland.” He said it rarely worked.
Abel criticized the FDA. He said it had yet to license a good remedy for cancer. But it continues to support poisonous treatments… when patients are at their weakest.
Alan C. Nixon is a longtime research chemist. He’s the former president of the American Chemical Society.
Nixon said: “…as a chemist trained to interpret data, it is incomprehensible to me that physicians can ignore the clear evidence that chemotherapy does much, much more harm than good.”
Dr. Allen Levin of UCSF also notes the dangers of chemo. He said: “Most cancer patients in this country die of chemotherapy. Chemotherapy does not eliminate breast, colon, or lung cancers. This fact has been documented for over a decade, yet doctors still use chemotherapy for these tumors.”
The Better Way to Battle Cancer
You’re probably wondering what to do if you get cancer. There are alternatives. You won’t hear about them from the American Cancer Society.
One comes from German physician Dr. Max Gerson. His therapy follows a two-step process. First, detoxify your body with an enema. Second, ensure you eat only organic foods rich in antioxidants. But only raw foods.
Practice prevention. It’s the best way to avoid cancer. So eat foods rich in AITC. These include broccoli, mustard seeds, horseradish, and wasabi. Studies have indicated there’s a link between these foods and cancer cell death.
Antioxidants boost your immune system. They help you avoid and fight cancer. Use colors as a guide. Eat purple, blue, red, orange, and yellow foods. The important categories are beta-carotene, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E.
Your best option is to arm yourself with knowledge. One good resource is Alternative Medicine Definitive Guide to Cancer. It’s a book written by Burton Goldberg, W. John Diamond, and W. Lee Cowden. It’s a collection of alternative cancer cures from doctors. And it’s based on 25 years of research.
